Meeting Groups Around Caerphilly

Out And About This Summer

This year, the Forum planned to contact new older people’s groups across the County. At the end of May, we made a visit to Zion Methodist Church. The Chairman gave a presentation to Woodfieldside OAPs in June and to a course run by Mind. The audience clearly enjoyed the presentation and we enjoyed delivering it.

The older population are important to politicians at election time because they go out to vote. However, we regularly find that our audiences are not aware of what changes are being made or proposed by local or national government. The Forum can provide information or explain where best to find it.

At Woodfieldside, brambles were overrunning the access to the hall. Our Chairman was able to contact the Council and the problem was quickly resolved.

The Forum can take issues or concerns you may have to Local or National Government. We have regular meetings with key people in the Council. Our Vice Chair is a trustee with Age Cymru and we have close links with the office of the Older People’s Commissioner.

However, fun is also a significant part of our agenda. “Share a Smile” is our theme for providing some entertaining events. Make a note in your diary. The AGM “Share a Smile” this year is on 1st November. 2019 is the 80th anniversary of the 2nd world war and we are already planning how we mark this.

Not a member of a group; we can still help.
