Get Involved

There are many ways you can get involved in your local community or with this or other forums and groups across Caerphilly. On this page are sources of information that will help you locate them.

The Caerphilly County Borough Council Website has a dedicated section for people who would like to get involved, which includes details of volunteering opportunities, current and past consultations  and a Community directory of groups and organisations  across the borough.

You might want to help improve local services and have a say in who provides a particular service to older people across the borough. Below is a short film called “Getting Involved” that shows how doing just that made some local residents feel they were listen to and how council officers realised the value of ‘service users’ views. If you think you might like to sit on a service user panel at some point please contact Mandy Sprague on 01443 864277 for more details.

Have you thought that you might volunteer but are not sure what opportunities there are? In that case you could give the GAVO (Gwent Association of Voluntary Organisations) volunteering team a call on 01633 241550. You can arrange to pop in to see them and have a chat about what you think you can offer or check what opportunities there are to volunteer across Caerphilly County Borough.

You could of course get involved with our Caerphilly County Borough 50+ Forum, either in one of the projects, as a steering group member or by responding to consultations we send out. Or perhaps you’re a dab hand at writing or have some skills or ideas you would like to share through the 50+ Forum website. In truth, the possibilities are endless so why not get in touch.
