Share A Smile 2 – & AGM

Our “Annual” event was held this year in Llancaiach Fawr Manor the Tudor manor house near the village of Nelson. Entertainment was provided by the harpist, Anwen Thomas; Lorne East who gave a presentation about bees; and the vocalist Emma James, who returned by popular demand following her performance last year. An interlude for a finger buffet with tea/coffee was availble at the interval.

Our AGM was a brief affair, to conduct formal business. The Chairman commended his annual report to the audience, who had each been provided with a copy. He also outlined the financial position of the Forum.

The Steering Committee had approved a revised constitution. Members at the meeting had a copy and were invited to vote to approve the new version. The motion to approve was carried unanimously.

The members attending the AGM were also asked to consider the nominations for the Steering Committee for the coming year. No objections were raised to those nominated. It was explained that Officers of the Committee would be elected by the Steering Committee at their next meeting.

  • Carers Week

Carers Week is an annual campaign to raise awareness of caring, highlight the challenges carers face and recognise the contribution they make to families and communities throughout the UK.

Carers across Caerphilly CBC are invited to come along to any of the free activities in carers week. Please share these details so we can spread the word to as many people as possible who are caring for husbands, wives, relatives and neighbours across the borough.

  • AGM

The 50+ Forum AGM was held on 14th January 2015 and attended by 32 residents and members of the Forum as well as 9 representatives from organisations working with older people across the county borough.

This meeting gave residents and forum members a chance comment and make suggestions on the impact of the Councils 2015/16 budgets cuts on older people. Those attending found out how the Commissioner for Older People is supporting them to get their views heard on cuts in Community services.
