‘ELVIS’ – OUTSIDE

Mike Oliver, our Events Coordinator, came up with the idea of having an Elvis Tribute performance in the gardens of Care Homes. A brilliant idea to provide some entertainment that was covid-safe. He contacted CJ Horton, who had previously starred in our “Inside – Outside” project, who enthusiastically agreed to participate.

Mike also invited Bethan Parker, a local singer, to join the performance, which she was also very pleased to do.

Through Caerphilly Council, we asked Care Homes throughout the County if they would like such a performance. 18 Care Homes responded positively – a significant challenge! Undaunted, the programme started with Abermill Care Home, Abertridwr, on 26th June followed by Church View Care Home, Caerphilly, on 3rd July.

Both performances were thoroughly enjoyed by staff and residents: here are some of their comments.

“Abermill would like to say big thank you coming to our care home. We had such a lovely morning your kindness is so appreciated. Residents and staff had so much fun. We hope to see you all again and keep up the good work. X”

“Church View Care Home manager Ellen Smith commented to CJ, “Thank you very much from myself and my team, our residents had a wonderful morning and chatted about the wonderful time they had throughout the day, thank you very much xx”

We apologise but we’re afraid we were not able to film at Church View.

Mike Oliver commented that at Church View “We also had loads of cars stopping to look and plenty of thanks for doing what we are doing.”
